Managing Your Products
Products are the heart of your store. This guide covers everything you need to know about adding, editing, and organizing your products on Strawlo.
To get started, click Products in your sidebar menu.
Adding a New Product
To create a new product, click the Add Product button on your Products page. You'll see a form with two tabs: General and SEO.
General Tab
This is where you set up the main details of your product.
Product Name (Required)
Enter a clear, descriptive name for your product. As you type, Strawlo automatically generates a URL-friendly slug. For example, "Blue Cotton T-Shirt" becomes blue-cotton-t-shirt.
Your product will be accessible at: yourstore.strawlo.com/product/blue-cotton-t-shirt
Description
Write a compelling description that tells customers what makes your product special. Use the text editor to format your description with bold text, lists, and more.
Tips for a good description:
- Mention the material, size, or key features
- Highlight what makes your product unique
- Keep it concise but informative
Price (Required)
Enter the selling price for your product. The currency is automatically set based on your store's location (GHS, NGN, ZAR, or KES).
Compare Price (Optional)
If your product is on sale, enter the original price here. It will show as a strikethrough price next to your selling price, so customers can see the discount.
Example: If your price is GHS 50 and compare price is GHS 80, customers will see GHS 80 GHS 50.
Stock (Required)
Enter how many units you have available. Strawlo tracks your stock automatically — when a customer places an order, your stock decreases.
You'll receive notifications when stock is running low (10 or fewer units) or when a product goes out of stock.
Category (Required)
Assign your product to a category to keep your store organized. Categories help customers browse and find what they're looking for.
To assign a category:
- Click the category dropdown
- Select an existing category, OR
- Click Create new category to add one on the spot
You can manage all your categories from the Categories tab on the Products page.
Product Images
Great photos sell products! You can add multiple images to each product.
Uploading Images
- Click the image upload area or drag and drop your photos
- You can upload multiple images at once
- Recommended size: 1240 x 930 pixels
- Accepted formats: PNG or JPG
Managing Your Images
- Primary image — The first image in the grid is your primary image. This is what customers see first in your store and in search results.
- Reorder — Drag images to rearrange their order. The first position is always the primary image.
- Remove — Click the remove button on any image to delete it.
Cropping Images
Every image can be cropped to look its best:
- Click the crop icon on any image
- Use the zoom slider to zoom in or out (1x to 3x)
- Drag the image to position it perfectly
- Click Save to apply your crop
Tip: Use the crop tool to ensure all your product images have a consistent look. Square crops work great for a clean, professional grid.
Image Limits
The number of images you can add per product depends on your subscription plan. If you've reached your limit, you'll see a prompt to upgrade.
Product Variants
Variants let you offer different options for the same product — like sizes, colors, or styles — each with their own price and stock level.
Adding Variants
- Scroll down to the Variants section on your product form
- Click Add variant
- Fill in the details:
- Name — The option name (e.g., "Small", "Medium", "Large", "Red", "Blue")
- Price — The price for this variant (can differ from the main price)
- Stock — How many units of this variant you have
- Click Save
Important: Stock Must Match
When you use variants, the total stock across all variants must equal your main product stock.
Example: If your product stock is 30:
- Small: 10 units
- Medium: 12 units
- Large: 8 units
- Total: 30 ✓
Strawlo shows a real-time indicator:
- Green = Variant stock matches product stock ✓
- Red = There's a mismatch — adjust your numbers before saving
Editing and Deleting Variants
- Click on any variant to edit its name, price, or stock
- Click the delete button to remove a variant
Product Visibility
Control whether customers can see your product on your store.
Published vs Draft
- Published (visible) — Product appears on your store and customers can buy it
- Draft (hidden) — Product is saved but not visible to customers
How to Toggle Visibility
- On the product form, look for the "Visible on store" toggle
- Turn it ON to publish, OFF to save as draft
- Visibility updates immediately — no need to save separately
When to use Draft mode:
- Product isn't ready yet (missing photos or details)
- Temporarily out of stock and you don't want to show it
- Seasonal products you want to hide until the right time
You can also see each product's status (Published or Draft) on the main Products list.
SEO Tab
Help customers find your products on Google by filling in the SEO fields.
SEO Title
The title that appears in Google search results. Keep it under 60 characters.
Example: "Blue Cotton T-Shirt — Fashion Hub Ghana"
Meta Description
The description shown below your title in search results. Keep it under 160 characters.
Example: "Premium blue cotton t-shirt. Comfortable, stylish, and affordable. Free delivery in Accra."
Social Share Image (OG Image)
The image that appears when someone shares your product link on WhatsApp, Facebook, or Twitter.
- Recommended size: 1200 x 630 pixels
- Use a clear, attractive product photo
Instagram Import
You can import products directly from your Instagram posts — connect your account, browse your post grid, select photos, and turn them into store products in minutes. This feature is available on Business+ plans and above.
For the full guide, see Importing products from Instagram.
Product Actions
From the Products list, you can perform quick actions on any product:
Duplicate a Product
Create an exact copy of a product — images, description, price, and all. Great for similar products with small differences.
Copy Product Link
Copy your product's URL to share it anywhere.
Send your product link directly to WhatsApp — perfect for sharing with customers or on your status.
Create Payment Link
Generate a payment link for a specific product. Useful for sending direct purchase links to customers.
Delete a Product
Remove a product permanently. You'll be asked to confirm before deletion.
Managing Categories
Categories keep your store organized and help customers find what they want.
From the Categories Tab
Click the Categories tab on your Products page to see all your categories with the number of products in each.
You can:
- Create a new category
- Edit a category name
- Delete a category (only if no products are assigned to it)
Tips for good categories:
- Keep category names short and clear (e.g., "T-Shirts", "Accessories", "Skincare")
- Don't create too many categories — 5 to 10 is usually enough
- Think about how your customers would browse your store
Quick Tips
1. Use High-Quality Images
Good photos are the #1 factor in making sales. Use natural lighting and a clean background.
2. Write Clear Product Names
Be specific. "Blue Cotton V-Neck T-Shirt (Large)" is better than "T-Shirt".
3. Set Compare Prices for Sales
Show customers the value they're getting by setting a compare price when items are on sale.
4. Keep Stock Updated
Accurate stock prevents overselling and keeps customers happy.
5. Use Variants Instead of Separate Products
If you sell the same shirt in 3 sizes, create one product with 3 variants — not 3 separate products.
6. Fill in SEO Fields
It only takes a minute and helps your products show up on Google.
