Importing Products from Instagram

Already showcasing your products on Instagram? Import them directly into your Strawlo store! Connect your Instagram Business account, browse your posts in a grid, select the ones you want, and turn them into store products in minutes.

Requirements

Before you start, make sure you have:

  1. A Business+ subscription plan — Instagram import is available on Business+ plans and above
  2. An Instagram Business or Creator account — Personal accounts won't work. You can switch to a Business account in your Instagram settings under AccountSwitch to Professional Account
  3. A Facebook Page connected to your Instagram — Instagram Business accounts must be linked to a Facebook Page (this is required by Instagram's API)

Connecting Your Instagram Account

On the Web Dashboard

  1. Go to ProductsImport from Instagram
  2. Click Connect Instagram
  3. You'll be redirected to Instagram's authorization page
  4. Log in to your Instagram account (if not already logged in)
  5. Grant Strawlo permission to access your posts
  6. You'll be redirected back to Strawlo with your account connected

Once connected, you'll see your Instagram username displayed at the top of the page.

On the Mobile App

  1. Go to ProductsImport from Instagram
  2. Tap Connect Instagram
  3. An in-app browser opens with Instagram's authorization page
  4. Log in and grant permissions
  5. The browser closes and you're returned to the app with your account connected

The mobile app uses the same secure OAuth flow as the web dashboard.

Browsing Your Posts

After connecting, you'll see a grid of your recent Instagram posts — just like your Instagram profile grid.

Selecting Posts

  • Tap or click on any post to select it (a checkmark appears)
  • Tap again to deselect
  • Use Select All to select everything visible
  • A counter shows how many posts are selected

Loading More Posts

Your most recent posts load first. Click Load More at the bottom to see older posts. You can keep loading until you've browsed all your posts.

What Gets Imported

For each selected post, Strawlo imports:

  • Image — The main photo from the post
  • Caption — Used as the product description

Editing Before Import

After selecting posts and clicking Import Selected, you'll see product cards for each one. This is where you fill in the details before adding them to your store.

For Each Product Card

  • Image — Pre-filled from your Instagram post. You can crop it using the built-in crop tool for a better fit.
  • Product Name (required) — Enter a clear, descriptive name. Instagram posts don't have titles, so you'll need to add one.
  • Price (required) — Set your selling price. Must be greater than 0.
  • Stock — Set how many units you have available (defaults to 1).
  • Category — Choose a category for the product. You can create a new category on the spot if needed.
  • Description — Pre-filled from your Instagram caption. Edit it to be more product-focused if needed.

Image Editing

Each imported image can be cropped:

  1. Click the crop icon on the image
  2. Zoom in or out using the slider
  3. Drag to position the image
  4. Click Save to apply

Removing Products

Don't want to import a particular post after all? Click the remove button on its card to take it out of the import batch.

Importing

Once you've filled in the required fields (name and price) for each product:

  1. Click Import to start
  2. A progress bar shows the import status for each product
  3. When complete, you'll see a summary of successful and failed imports
  4. Successfully imported products appear in your Products list

Disconnecting Instagram

To disconnect your Instagram account:

  1. Go to ProductsImport from Instagram
  2. Click Disconnect next to your username
  3. Confirm the disconnection

Your previously imported products are not affected — they remain in your store. You can reconnect anytime.

Tips for Better Imports

1. Use High-Quality Instagram Photos

The better your Instagram photos, the better your product images will look. Square photos with good lighting work best.

2. Write Product-Ready Captions

If your Instagram captions are product descriptions already (mentioning materials, sizes, features), the import will be even smoother since the description is pre-filled.

3. Edit Names Carefully

Instagram posts don't have titles, so take time to write clear, descriptive product names. "Blue Denim Jacket — Size M" is much better than "New arrival!"

4. Set Accurate Prices

Double-check your prices before importing. It's easier to set them correctly now than to edit each product individually later.

5. Organize with Categories

Assign categories during import to keep your store organized from the start. Create categories like "T-Shirts", "Accessories", or "New Arrivals" as you go.

6. Import in Batches

If you have many posts to import, do it in batches of 5–10. This makes it easier to fill in details carefully for each product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I see the Instagram import option?

Instagram import is available on Business+ plans and above. If you don't see it, check your subscription plan on the Billing page.

Do I need an Instagram Business account?

Yes. Personal Instagram accounts are not supported by Instagram's API. You can switch to a Business account for free in your Instagram settings.

Can I import videos or reels?

Currently, only photo posts are supported. Videos, reels, and stories cannot be imported.

Can I import the same post twice?

Yes, but it will create a duplicate product. Check your existing products before importing to avoid duplicates.

Will changes to my Instagram post update the product?

No. Once imported, the product is independent of the Instagram post. Editing or deleting the Instagram post won't affect your store product.

Can I import from multiple Instagram accounts?

You can connect one Instagram account at a time. To import from a different account, disconnect the current one and connect the new one.

Does Instagram import work on the mobile app?

Yes! The Strawlo iOS app has the same Instagram import flow — connect, browse the post grid, select, edit, and import.

What permissions does Strawlo need on my Instagram account?

Strawlo requests read-only access to your posts (images and captions). Strawlo cannot post, edit, or delete anything on your Instagram account.
