Adding Products
This guide walks you through adding a product on the Strawlo app or web dashboard. It works the same way on both.
Add a Product in 4 Steps
- Tap Add product from your home screen or the Products page.
- Add a photo. On the app, tap Take photo or Choose photos. On the web, click the upload area.
- Check the name and enter your price. If AI is available, the name and description fill in by themselves.
- Tap Done.
That's it. Your product is live. Everything else is optional.
Photos
- Add several photos at once. The first is your Primary photo, shown first on your store.
- Photos upload in the background as soon as you add them. A spinner shows on each while you keep filling in the form.
- If a photo shows Retry, it didn't upload. Tap it to try again, or remove it.
- Photos are resized automatically, so they upload quickly and load fast for customers.
Fill In Details With AI
After your first photo uploads, tap Fill in details with AI. AI fills in the product name, description and category.
- It never sets your price.
- It only runs when you tap the button. Nothing is filled in on its own.
- Tap it again for a fresh version. It replaces the name, description and category.
- Always check what it wrote before saving.
How many you get: Business includes 5 AI listings a month (resets on the 1st). The count next to the button shows how many are left. Business+ is unlimited. To rewrite just the description, use Write with AI above the description field. It isn't part of the monthly count. See AI product descriptions.
More Details
Tap More details to open the rest of the form. The summary line shows what you've already filled in.
- Description: short lines and bullet points are easiest for shoppers to scan.
- Category: tap a recently used category, or pick from the full list.
- Compare-at price: the original price, shown crossed out to highlight a discount.
- Wholesale pricing: lower prices for bulk buyers. See Wholesale pricing.
- Stock: see below.
- Options: sizes, colours and more.
- Publish: turn off to save the product without showing it on your store.
Stock
Stock is optional.
- Leave it blank if you don't count stock. The product is never marked sold out.
- Enter a number to track it. Stock goes down with each order, you get alerts when it's low, and customers can't buy more than you have.
If your product has options, stock is set per variant instead.
Options (Sizes, Colours)
- Turn on This product comes in options.
- Tap a preset, such as Sizes S–XL, Shoe sizes (38–45) or Colours, or type your own.
- Remove any values you don't sell.
- Set the price and stock for each variant row that appears.
You can add up to two options per product, such as Size and Colour.
Price and Fees
Under the price, Strawlo shows what you'll receive after Paystack fees for online payments:
- Ghana: 1.95%
- Nigeria: 1.5%
- Kenya: 1.45% + KES 25
To cover the fee, tap the suggested price below it. For example, at GH₵500 you receive GH₵490.25; charge GH₵510 and you receive GH₵500.06. Tap Undo to go back to your original price.
Pay-on-delivery orders have no Paystack fee. The fee suggestion doesn't appear for products with options, since each variant has its own price. More on fees in Billing and fees.
Saving
- Done saves your product and closes the form.
- Save & add another saves it and opens a fresh form. Your category and publish setting stay selected for the next product.
Drafts
If you leave before saving, Strawlo keeps your product as a draft. When you open Add product again, you'll see "Picked up where you left off". Tap Start over for a blank form.
Drafts are saved on the device you were using, so a draft started on your phone won't appear on your computer.
Duplicate a Product
- Find the product on your Products list and choose Duplicate. You can also use the duplicate button while editing a product.
- A copy opens with everything filled in, named "(Copy)".
- Change what's different and tap Done.
Nothing is created until you tap Done. Leave without saving and the copy is discarded.
FAQ
Why is there a spinner on my photo?
It's uploading. You can keep filling in the form. Done waits for any photos still uploading.
Why didn't AI fill anything in?
AI only runs when you tap Fill in details with AI, once your first photo has finished uploading. On Business, you may also have used this month's 5 AI listings.
