Shipping & Delivery

Shipping lets you charge customers a delivery fee automatically at checkout — based on where they're getting their order delivered. You set the prices once, and Strawlo applies the right one for each customer.

To set it up, go to Store settingsShipping/Delivery.

Shipping is optional. If you don't set anything up, checkout works exactly as before — no delivery fee is added, and you arrange delivery with the customer directly. You only start charging shipping once you create your first zone.

The two building blocks

Shipping is made of just two things:

  1. Zoneswhere you deliver (a group of countries).
  2. Rateshow much you charge in that zone (a flat price).

A zone can have more than one rate (for example a cheaper "Standard" and a faster "Express"), and the customer picks one at checkout.

Step 1: Create a zone

On a brand-new store you'll see two buttons:

  • Set up domestic delivery — instantly creates a starter zone for your own country. Quickest way to begin.
  • Create a custom zone — set one up yourself from scratch. (Tap this again any time to add more zones.)

Give the zone a name, then choose what it applies to:

  • Specific countries — pick the exact countries this zone covers (e.g. Ghana).
  • All other countries — this is your "rest of the world" zone. It automatically covers any country you haven't added to another zone.

That's the key idea:

A zone is either a list of countries you choose, or the catch-all for everywhere else. Only one zone can be the "All other countries" zone.

Example setup:

Zone Applies to Rate
Ghana Ghana only GH₵30
Rest of the world All other countries GH₵600

A customer in Ghana sees GH₵30. A customer in the UK, USA, or anywhere else sees GH₵600.

Step 2: Add rates

Inside a zone, tap Add rate. For each rate you can set:

  • Name — e.g. Standard, Express, Pickup.
  • Price — the flat delivery fee (enter 0 for free shipping).
  • Delivery estimate (optional) — a min/max number of days shown to the customer (e.g. "2–4 days").
  • Only show when order is over (optional) — a minimum order total before this rate appears.

Offering free shipping over an amount

Add a rate priced at 0, and set "Only show when order is over" to your threshold (e.g. GH₵500). Customers spending above that amount will see free delivery automatically.

What customers see at checkout

When shipping is set up, the customer:

  1. Chooses their delivery country.
  2. Sees the available delivery options and prices for that country.
  3. Picks one — and it's added to their total automatically.

If a customer's country isn't covered by any zone (and you have no "All other countries" zone), checkout still goes through — they simply see "Delivery fees may apply, the store will contact you", and you sort the delivery out with them directly. Checkout is never blocked because of shipping.

International orders

  • Import duties & taxes are paid by the customer on arrival — they're not included in the price you set. Customers see a note about this at checkout.
  • Pay on Delivery is not available for international orders (it only works for local, in-person cash handover). International customers pay online.
  • For addresses that need a unit number (e.g. the USA), customers get an "Apartment, suite, unit" field, since map search can't capture unit numbers on its own.

Fulfilling the order

Strawlo doesn't ship for you — you stay in control of delivery. Once an order is paid:

  1. Pack and send it with any courier you like (a dispatch rider, GhanaPost, a freight forwarder, etc.).
  2. Open the order and add the tracking link so your customer can follow their delivery.

The shipping fee you charged is shown on the order, the customer's confirmation page, and their receipt.

Tips

  • Start with a domestic zone for your home country, then add a "Rest of the world" zone if you want to ship abroad.
  • Use delivery estimates so customers know when to expect their order.
  • Leave shipping unset if you prefer to quote delivery manually — nothing breaks.

You can manage all of this from both the web dashboard and the Strawlo mobile app under Store settings → Shipping/Delivery.
