Managing Product Reviews
Customer reviews build trust and help new buyers make confident purchasing decisions. Strawlo lets your customers leave star ratings and written reviews on your products, and gives you full control over which reviews appear on your store.
To manage reviews, go to Marketing → Reviews in your sidebar.
How Customers Leave Reviews
On any product page in your store, customers can click "Write a Review" to share their experience. The review form asks for:

After submitting, the customer sees a confirmation that their review has been submitted and is awaiting approval.
Important: Reviews are not published automatically. Every review goes through your approval process first, giving you full control over what appears on your store.
Reviews Dashboard
Your Reviews page gives you an overview of all customer feedback.
Stats at a Glance
- Total Reviews — All reviews submitted across your products
- Pending Approval — Reviews waiting for you to approve or decline
- Approved — Reviews currently visible on your store
- Average Rating — The average star rating across all approved reviews
Filter Tabs
Quickly find reviews by status:
- All Reviews — Everything submitted
- Pending — Reviews waiting for your decision
- Approved — Reviews currently live on your store
Moderating Reviews
Each review card shows the product image, customer name, star rating, review text, and status badge. You have several actions available:
Approving a Review
Click Approve to publish a review on your store. Once approved:
- The review appears on the product page with the customer's name, rating, and text
- If you've written a merchant response, it becomes visible too
- The review contributes to the product's average rating
Declining a Review
Click Decline to reject a review. Declined reviews are removed from your list and won't appear on your store. You'll be asked to confirm before declining.
When to decline:
- Spam or irrelevant content
- Offensive or inappropriate language
- Reviews clearly meant for a different product
- Fake reviews
Deleting a Review
Click the trash icon to permanently delete a review. This removes it entirely — whether it was pending, approved, or declined. You'll be asked to confirm.
Responding to Reviews
Engage with your customers by responding to their reviews. Merchant responses show below the customer's review on the product page.
Adding a Response
- Find the review you want to respond to
- Click Respond (or Edit if you've already responded)
- Write your response in the text box
- Click Submit Response
Good Response Examples
For positive reviews:
"Thank you so much for the kind words, Sarah! We're glad you love the jacket. Looking forward to serving you again!"
For constructive feedback:
"Thank you for your feedback, Kwame. We're sorry the sizing wasn't perfect. We've updated our size guide to help future customers. Feel free to reach out for an exchange!"
For product questions in reviews:
"Great question about care instructions! Hand wash in cold water and air dry for best results. We'll add this info to the product description. Thanks for the 5 stars!"
Important Notes
- Responses on pending reviews are saved but only become visible after you approve the review
- You can edit your response anytime by clicking Edit on the review card
- Keep responses professional and helpful — they're visible to all visitors
How Reviews Appear on Your Store
On each product page, approved reviews are displayed with:
- Star rating (filled yellow stars)
- Customer name
- Review title (if provided)
- Review text
- Your response (if you've written one, shown in a highlighted box)
- Date of the review
The overall product rating is calculated from all approved reviews.
Quick Tips
1. Review Regularly
Check your pending reviews at least once a week. Customers appreciate seeing their reviews published promptly.
2. Approve Honest Negative Reviews
Don't just approve 5-star reviews. A mix of ratings (including some 3-4 star reviews) actually looks more trustworthy than all perfect scores. Customers are suspicious of stores with only 5-star reviews.
3. Always Respond to Negative Reviews
A thoughtful response to a negative review shows you care about customer satisfaction. Other shoppers are watching how you handle criticism.
4. Keep Responses Short and Genuine
Don't write essays. A few sentences thanking the customer and addressing their feedback is perfect.
5. Encourage Reviews
After delivering an order, send a quick WhatsApp message or email asking the customer to leave a review. Most happy customers just need a gentle nudge.
6. Use Reviews as Feedback
Reviews are free market research. If multiple customers mention the same issue (sizing, shipping time, quality), take it seriously and make improvements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do customers need an account to leave a review?
No. Anyone can submit a review on your product pages. They just need to provide their name and write their review.
Can a customer edit their review after submitting?
No. Once submitted, only you (the merchant) can manage the review — approve, decline, delete, or respond to it.
Can I turn off reviews for my store?
Reviews are available by default on product pages. If you prefer not to have reviews, simply decline or delete any submissions.
Do reviews affect my store's SEO?
Reviews add fresh, unique content to your product pages which can help with search engine rankings. Products with good ratings may also perform better in search results.
Can I see which reviews are from verified buyers?
Yes. Reviews from customers who have actually purchased the product are marked with a Verified Purchase badge, adding extra credibility.
What happens to reviews if I delete a product?
Reviews are linked to products. If you delete a product, its reviews are also removed.
Can I import reviews from other platforms?
Currently, reviews can only be submitted through your Strawlo store's product pages. Manual review import is not available.
