Recovering Abandoned Carts
Sometimes a customer fills their cart and starts checkout, but doesn't finish paying — the network drops, they get distracted, or they just hesitate. That's an abandoned cart, and it's a sale you almost made.
Strawlo helps you win those sales back. You can see exactly who didn't finish and send them a ready-made link to complete their order.
Where to Find Abandoned Carts
Go to Orders and open the Abandoned tab.
There you'll see every shopper who started checkout but didn't pay, including:
- Their name and contact (if they entered it)
- What was in their cart
- How much the order was worth
- How long ago they abandoned it
How to Recover a Cart
- Open Orders → Abandoned.
- Tap the cart you want to recover.
- Strawlo creates a recovery link — a checkout page with their exact items already added.
- Send it to the customer using:
- SMS
- Or Copy the link to share it anywhere
- The message is already written for you (for example, "Hi Ama! You left some items in your cart…") — just tap send.
When the customer clicks the link and pays, the sale lands in your orders like any other.
How Long Do You Have?
You have 14 days to recover each cart before it clears out. The sooner you reach out, the more likely the customer is to come back — but there's no rush within that window.
Tips for Recovering More Carts
- Reach out quickly. A friendly message within a few hours often works best, while the customer still remembers what they wanted.
- Keep it personal. The pre-written message already greets them by name — you can edit it to add a little warmth or answer a question they might have had.
- Use WhatsApp where you can. Most customers in Ghana check WhatsApp constantly, so it's usually the fastest way to get a reply.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a special plan for this?
No. Abandoned cart recovery is available on all Strawlo plans.
Does Strawlo message customers automatically?
No. You stay in control — Strawlo prepares the link and the message, but you choose who to contact and when, and you tap send yourself from your own WhatsApp, SMS, or email.
What if the customer already completed their order?
Carts only stay in the Abandoned tab while they're unpaid. Once a customer pays, the cart becomes a normal order and leaves the Abandoned list.
Can I do this from the mobile app?
Yes. The Abandoned tab is available in both the Strawlo web dashboard and the iOS app.
