You just agreed on a price with a customer over WhatsApp. Now what? Do you send them your bank details and hope they screenshot the receipt? Do you ask them to find your store and check out?
Neither. You send them a payment link. One tap, they pay, you get your money. Done.
💡 What is a Payment Link?
A Payment Link is a unique URL you create on Strawlo. You add what the customer is buying and the price, then share the link. When they open it, they see the items, enter their details, and pay with Mobile Money or card. That's it — no store browsing, no checkout flow, no friction.
When Should You Use Payment Links?
Payment Links work best when the standard store checkout doesn't fit the situation. Here are the most common scenarios:
🎂
Custom Orders
You made a special cake, dress, or furniture piece for someone. Send them a link to pay for exactly what was agreed.
💬
WhatsApp & DM Sales
Customer saw your post and messaged you directly? Skip the "check my bio" dance. Send a payment link right in the chat.
🧾
Invoices & Quotes
Quoted a client GHS 1,500 for a design job? Create a payment link as your invoice. Professional and trackable.
📦
Bulk & Wholesale
Negotiated special pricing for a large order? Payment links let you set any price — no need to create a separate product.
💰
Deposits & Down Payments
Collecting 50% upfront before you start? Create a link for just the deposit amount.
🎨
Services & Consultations
Charge for your time, skills, or expertise. No physical product needed — just name the service and the price.
How to Create a Payment Link
There are two ways to create payment links on Strawlo:
Method 1: From the Payment Links Page
This gives you the most control — you can add multiple items, set expiration dates, prefill customer info, require delivery addresses, and add notes.
Go to Payment Links
On desktop, click Payment Links in your dashboard sidebar. On mobile, tap the menu and select Payment Links. Then tap the Create Payment Link button.
Add Your Items
For each item, enter the name, quantity, and price. You can add as many items as you want to a single link. The total is calculated automatically.
Example: "Custom Birthday Cake" × 1 @ GHS 350
Add Customer Details (Optional)
If you know who's paying, prefill their name, email, and phone number. This saves them time when they open the link. If you leave these blank, they'll fill them in themselves.
Configure Options
You have a few extra settings available:
- Expiration — Set the link to expire after 1, 3, 7, 14, or 30 days. Great for time-sensitive quotes.
- Require delivery address — Toggle this on if you need to deliver a physical product. The customer will be asked for their address.
- Notes — Add delivery instructions, terms, or what happens after payment.
Create & Share
Hit Create Payment Link and you'll get a unique URL. Share it via WhatsApp, copy the link to paste anywhere, or let customers scan a QR code.
Method 2: Quick Link from the Products Page
Already have products in your store? You can create a payment link for any product in one click.
- Go to Products in your dashboard
- Find the product you want
- Click the ⋮ menu (three dots) on the product
- Select Create payment link
This instantly creates a payment link for that product at its listed price. A popup appears with the link ready to copy or share via WhatsApp. This is the fastest way when you're selling an existing product to someone outside your store.
Quick tip
The quick product link doesn't include delivery address collection by default. If you need the customer's address, create the link from the Payment Links page instead and toggle on "Require delivery address".
What Your Customer Sees
When a customer opens your payment link, here's their experience:
Your store name and branding — so they know it's legitimate
Clear item breakdown — names, quantities, and prices for everything they're paying for
Simple form — they enter their name, email, and phone number
Payment options — Mobile Money or card, whatever works for them
Confirmation page — with order reference and payment receipt
The whole process takes under 30 seconds for the customer. No account creation, no browsing — just pay and go.
What Happens After Payment?
Once your customer pays:
- You get notified immediately — a notification appears in your dashboard
- An order is created automatically — with a proper order number, customer details, and payment confirmation
- The customer gets a confirmation — with their order reference number
- The payment link status updates — from "Pending" to "Paid" in your dashboard
Everything is tracked. No screenshots, no manual reconciliation, no "did they pay?" uncertainty.
Managing Your Payment Links
Your Payment Links dashboard gives you a clear overview of every link you've created.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Payment Links
Be specific with item names. Instead of "Product", write "Blue Nike Air Force 1 Size 42" or "2-Hour Photography Session (Outdoor)". Your customer should know exactly what they're paying for, and you'll have clear records too.
Use expiration dates for quotes. If you quoted a price that's only valid for a week, set the link to expire in 7 days. This creates urgency and keeps your pricing clean.
Follow up on pending links. If a link has been pending for a day or two, send a friendly WhatsApp message: "Hi! Just checking if you had any questions about the payment link I sent." Sometimes people just forget.
Use notes to set expectations. Add delivery timelines, what happens next, or any terms. This reduces back-and-forth messages after payment.
